What does beauty mean to you?

Beauty is a collection of the features a person has that brings joy to themselves and others. To me, it means finding what makes you genuinely happy and sharing those things with other.

When do you feel most beautiful?

I feel most beautiful when my mind, my body and spirit are all in tune. The peace that exists within makes me feel amazing.

What does being a woman mean to you?

Being a woman means having the ability to nurture the world and rule it simultaneously. I am loving and compassionate yet strong mentally and physically. Being a woman = being a conqueror.

What do you love about yourself?

Identity wise, I love the compassion I have for others. I see a need and I seek ways to meet them. For years I listened to others say I was weak for this but as I grew as an individual I realized it was a strength.

It takes a lot of discernment to know when and where to intervene on another’s behalf and even more to put your own wants aside to help meet another’s needs.

Tell me your story.

I am a 30-year-old aspiring hairstylist. I have a degree in management from Purdue but realized my passion was elsewhere and decided to create my own path instead of following what my family wanted. I like the technical aspect of hair styling but I love reminding my clients of how beautiful they already are.

What do you think was the biggest turning point in your life?

In 2015 I had a mild stroke and mental health crisis. It completely changed my life. I could no longer ignore the things of my past and present they were weighing heavy on me. I had to take the time to really deal with myself and relearn to love myself.

The process hasn’t been easy but through it I have learned to live in the moment with consideration for the future without carry the pain of the past.

Please finish the statement- I am a person who…

loves to smile. Laughter is such a gift to me that I love to share with everyone else. People always say my smile is contagious.

Tell me about a goal you are working on.

I am currently looking to diversify my client base. I want to work with people of different ages, ethnicities and abilities. I would love to provide customized services to people with special needs.
